False Nostalgia: Painting Series

This painting series is a collection of acrylic and oil paintings that is inspired by old family photographs I have found through the years. It is centered around a feeling of nostalgia for something I was never a part of, a sense of connectivity to times and situations that I am completely unfamiliar with. Inspired greatly by David Hockney, the style is focused strongly around the interaction of hard edges and organic forms. To me, this series is less about the complete accuracy of forms and more about finding and conveying that sense of longing and belonging.
